Lichfield Waterworks Trust - Sandfields Pumping Station
The objective of the Trust is to save the Grade II* listed redundant waterworks at Sandfields in Lichfield, which is possibly one of the most overlooked yet important pieces of social and industrial heritage that Britain has. There is a strong argument that this building and its Cornish beam engine possibly saved a million lives from death by cholera.
The Trust wants to ensure that the building can continue to serve the community by renovating it and making use of it for events and as an education resource.
The Trust is always after new volunteers so do get in touch with them to find out how you can help. There are regular events held in the pumping station and you can book in for a tour too of the site too!
